Graduation Weekend

Hola todos! I'm trying to remember the last time I posted. . . Well this is the first time I'm posting as a high-school and college graduate! Bear with me as I get back into the swing of things around here! :) On my graduation weekend, Grandma came from out of state to see me graduate.

 College graduation:

Where's Waldo?

I was able to walk behind and in front of my friends; it was wonderful having them with me throughout the ceremony! :)

This picture is a little unfortunate, but it's one of the few we took! I say "we", but it was very odd to have an occasion where I was not behind the camera.

Reading the diploma at my high-school graduation.

Receiving my diploma.

It was such a lovely moment - so emotional! I didn't cry at my college graduation, but I definitely did for my high-school graduation.

Clara made me a gorgeous chocolate raspberry cheesecake!

The next day I went to a party that I helped put together for work. We did a barbecue at a park and it was pretty fun.

Yes, I got to play on the play set.
Much fun. :)
And now it's time for my signature: an awkwardly placed story in the middle of a blog post!

An interesting situation occurred when I tried to jump up onto a swing. Either kids have longer legs nowadays or mine are rapidly shrinking. . . At any rate, the playground had high swings.
Securing the first opportunity and being highly grateful that it was too early in the morning for the local children's playground excursions, I glided across the playground and eagerly grasped the rusty chains of the swing on the left. I jumped backwards onto the swing. I landed on the ground. I jumped again. I landed on the ground again. I heard a chuckle emit from the covered shelter where we had set up.
Determined, I leapt backwards with the agility of a ninety-year-old man and landed with my knees on the seat and the world upside down.
It's funny; I learned that when the world is upside down and swinging back and forth, my face gets red and hot and I screech like a monkey. Two of my highly amused co-workers came and rescued me and stood by to watch as I leapt into the seat gracefully.
Whilst dropping my phone.
The end.

One of my co-workers brought his dog, Yoshi. Note his tiny, ecstatic face as he runs. :P

So cute. . .

Later we went to a friend's graduation party and had a blast there hanging out. Clara took full advantage of the fact that they had a rope swing at their house.

Nigel, playing volleyball, I think.

I find it amusing that this is the only picture Clara took of me. I was not on my phone the whole time, I promise!

It feels incredibly weird that I'm not in school anymore. I mean, I've been in school all my life. I just finished four years of high school, two years of college. . . Where did that time go?

I got a haircut!

A couple days ago, my sis and I got haircuts! It was actually a trim for me, but I haven't had one in three years. Here are "before" pictures of me, with waist-length hair:
And "after":

Ta-da! I'm glad with the way it turned out, it feels a lot healthier and I can still put it into my favorite styles. It's weird what a difference 4 inches makes!

I'm tired!

I had a busy day today. Mama and I went grocery shopping. And clothes shopping. And plate shopping. And impulse shopping. And Valentines Day shopping. And we stopped at the library; oh, we were so efficient : )

We got some cute plates that have palm trees on them, and we bought groceries for two weeks for eight people. One of our biggest stops was at the library where we had a shelf of hold requests. In culinary arts, my sis and I are doing fancy desserts. Mama went crazy with the curriculum, and I think we're doing chocolate stuff now (there's so much!). I wonder if we have to pay for the drool damage to the books? ; P Currently we have home at least 25 dessert books.

Earlier I had an interesting thought. I usually think this thought, but today when I thought it, I thought it was profound. We were passing the highway in the van, and I thought something along these lines:
"Wow, lot's of cars. What if there are at least two people in each car? I can't even estimate that (they were going by so quickly). There are several billion people on this planet. I'm only one of them. Every single person is unique and has a different personality. It takes a lifetime just to get to know one person." I relayed the gist of it to Mama (there are a lot of people in the world) and she laughed. I explained it to her, and we talked about how life just flashes by, it's pretty scary.
Anyway, I think about it a lot. . .

Goodnight,

Today has been a day, and tomorow will be too.

There's no other way to say it. Just a typical day. I ate some pizza, did some school, read a couple of books and knit.

I did do something rather amusing. . . I listened to "Outrage" by Capital Lights. Nothing strange about that. Except that I listened to it 36 times in a row. That's about two hours straight. I had to pause it to answer my phone so it didn't count after that. It wasn't even an important call, I could've made it to 40. I know I broke a personal record, but I hope I broke some sort of national record, that would be cool. Let me know if you ever hear of such. I bet you think I am a broken record because I talk about Capital Lights so much.
I also broke the record of Most Fingerless Gloves Knit in One Day. I'm working on my sixth now.

Can you tell that my life has settled into a slow fall-like pace? I like it. I'm not posting this to tell you about my boring and strange idiosyncrasies, just to let y'all know that I'm over the flu. Thanks for praying. I was just lying on my bed, knitting and singing Falling Up songs and I thought why not post a bit on my blog. Things have been slow in my personal blogland.

Tomorrow is Halloween, and we have a tradition in my family. We buy everybody's favorite candy and turn out all the lights at dark. This ensues a lot of bumping around and giggling. After careful trading and distributing, we eat the candy and watch some movies. We always watch two movies, scary and not. This year it's Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure, and we haven't decided the other one. I voted Psycho. Mother said no.

I feel like cooking something tasty (my brother is looking eagerly over my shoulder. I'll bet he wants chocolate chip cookies) and I have to make a menu too.

See ya,

Sophia
