Ten easy steps to fill an ice cream cone:
1. Select desired flavor of ice cream and remove it from the freezer.
2. Select desired cones and remove from shelf/cupboard/drawer/refrigerator. Mutter and complain about how the size of the cone is about half the size shown on the box.
3. Select desired ice cream scoop and remove from shelf/cupboard/drawer/refrigerator.
4. Open box and discover that not only are the cones half the size on the box, but half of them are broken.
5. Open ice cream container and remove a cone from the box. Place cone in desired hand and hold ice cream scoop in the other. Scoop up some ice cream with the scoop and attempt to cram it into the minuscule opening provided by the cone. Repeat. Several times.
6. Discard broken cone(s), and remove another cone from the box. Abandon the ice cream scoop, make sure nobody's watching you, and use your fingers to shove some ice cream into the cone. Fill the inside of the cone using your fingers.
7. Wipe fingers on shirt/tongue. Use ice cream scoop to get a big hunk to place on top. Hit top of cone with the scoop in hopes that the ice cream will depart from the scoop. Repeat.
8. Remove ice cream from scoop with fingers/spoon. Use fingers/spoon to shape ice cream in an attractive manner atop the cone.
9. Congratulations. Now, hurry. Place completed cone on surface, rinse off your fingers, dump mostly broken cones in box, put ice cream scoop in sink, put ice cream in freezer and put the cone box away.
10. Your ice cream has melted all over the counter. Repeat steps 1-10.
Funnier than it seems.

New Glasses!
My new glasses came in the mail yesterday! Here's a really blurry picture!
They're kind of wide for my face, and like I said, I used the wrong prescription, but otherwise, I love 'em!
If you wear glasses, you need to know about Zenni Optical. This place rocks, and if you've ordered from them before, you know that they are beautiful glasses that are perfect! They've apparently got rotten customer service, so make sure to use the right prescription.
Okay, I'm gonna stop sounding like a commercial and go do something else. I do enjoy blogging though!

Fail!
I'm sorta upset because of the deadline I set myself. I won't be able to go to the fort tonight because I still have to set the skirt onto the waist. *sigh* Oh well, I'll still be able to wear the dress at the next camp and the Brigade encampment.
On the totally unrelated and bright side, our victory garden is really getting amazing! I just ran out and picked some strawberries : ). We also have zucchini, broccoli and carrots flourishing, as well as millions of tomatoes of all varieties! When I say millions of tomatoes, I mean quite a lot of plants, about like, 3 or 4 beds.
Today is a very hot day, and I've got a headache. Not because of the heat; I need new glasses. I actually ordered some new glasses online a few days ago, but I ordered using my old prescription! I feel really dopey for not noticing that...so the glasses are coming anyway, and I'll order some new ones with the right prescription when they do.

For you, Mal
Okay, this recipe post is in honor of college-aged people who have an apartment, many friends, a love of cooking and little time on their hands.
Here are some recipes based from our dinner tonight:
Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs from Allrecipes, and it was pretty good. The only alterations to the recipe was to grill in a hot skillet instead of on a grill. It says it serves six, but I'd say four. The dish was rather light and would be good served with wild rice or something. We had it with plain rice and the boys put theirs in taco shells.
For chicken that is more hearty, just put some yummy salad dressing on any cut of chicken and stick it in the oven at 350 degrees for about an hour and 45 minutes, rotating (more often for smaller cuts) You can marinade it for a few hours if you like; makes all the difference if you remember! If you chop up some potatoes and toss them in the pan with the chicken, you have yourself an entire meal which takes five minutes to make.
For vegetarians, instead of chicken, or as a side to the chicken use hearty veggies in a stir-fry grill sort of thing and use the dressing as a topping. When grilling, use high heat, oil, splashes of water for steam and garlic salt (taste as you add). Use lower heat and more frequent splashes for more of a saute. If you saute, eat it on rice because it's not a really nice dinner if you're just squishing on that.
I always use zucchini because it releases so much juice. Broccoli is always a winner, as it's really firm and provides texture. Broccoli, zucchini and garlic is a simple and tasty combo, and is the one I use the most.
Pasta is a good emergency dish, and has such a vast variety of variation that you could eat it every day of the year. Be sure to add mushrooms to whatever pasta!
That's all I can think of at the moment. These are a few dinners that will make the whole house smell awesome. They may not be quick, but they're not labor intensive at all and are delicious.
I need to go to plan another menu, but I think that's pretty much what I'm doing right now.

4 days left!
I really want to wear my dress this Friday at the Fort. I don't know whether or not I'm attending the event yet, but I need a deadline.
So, I'm kinda doing a step-by-step photo shoot.
Step one, Picking It Apart:

(That's me with a doleful look on my face, wearing a fedora I made about a week ago)
Step two, Separate And Remove Lining:

Step three, Draft New Sleeves and Change Collar Style:

Well, that's all for now folks. No, that band-aid isn't because I accidentally stabbed myself with my needle.
I feel kinda annoyed with the way Blogger arranges the pictures!
I want to put a picture in one place, Blogger sticks it in a different place, I have to drag it all around, my text is flying everywhere and it's very irritating! I need to find a tutorial somewhere...recommendations?
I'm off to do the dishes!

The Great Dress Fiasco!
Y'all have seen my dress. My 1855 fan-front, purple dress:
Now let's see what happened to it on Thursday:
Bleach. It splashed onto my beautiful dress! So I'm undergoing the process of removing the bodice section and constructing a new one! Wish me luck!

Some more pictures!
These are pictures I took and put in a folder I call "beautiful loves" from the song by The Afters.
The first picture is a statue out back in disrepair. We got him back up though.
The second I'm proud of. I heard it and I had the camera in my hands so I ran and lifted the camera up, snapped the picture and it disappeared behind the trees. It was awesome.
The third one I took lying in the grass on my front lawn.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get the pictures where I want them to go, so that's why I have picture posts.

I am SO sore and tired it makes me sore and tired to think about how sore and tired I am...
...To borrow a phrase.
Yesterday was figure skating lessons. I need to make some videos of the moves I'm learning, because I can't find them on YouTube. Anyway, I have finally mastered my lunge, which is one of the skills I need to pass to Freestyle 1. The other skills are inside and outside edges, bunny hops and inside 3-turns, all of which I'm pretty good at.
Lunging is basically thrusting (lunging) your body into an uncomfortable position for an extended period of time while moving forward. I help my classmates learn after the teacher leaves and
they all wanted to lunge so I went all out. This way, that way, lunge lunge lunge. I even sat on the ice in a half-split position. And I fell from that position several times. I landed on my cell phone once, but it's okay. It was SO FUN, I got my clothes totally wet!
Anyway, I just got back from the Fort today, where I helped out at the camp again. It was pretty fun, I cut my finger on the porch, sat around a lot, got doused with water and I helped with making lanterns.
I cut my finger on the porch while looking at rocks underneath it. I was bored and I said, "Hey these rocks look really weird." and another A/I (apprentice interpreter) said, "Maybe they're mice." And it made me laugh really hard and I grabbed onto the wood and ripped off some skin that way. It was way funnier in person.
I hadn't done lanterns before, so I helped another volunteer and soon got the hang of it. There were some visitors that came up to us when we were making them; they were an older couple. The lady came up and said, "Won't the wood catch on fire?"
"No, we'll put glass around the candle."
"Ohh! I didn't know that they had glass in the olden days!"
Yup. We had fun telling that story to everybody. Someone else said to me:
"So, are you a staff member?"
"No, I volunteer here."
"...Why in the world would you want to do THAT?"
"(blink, blink) Because it's ridiculously fun."
"Ah."
Now I'm thinking of all of these great things I should have said instead, but I guess that I was so confused why she'd say that. I guess SHE was confused...Anyway, I'm confusing myself now, moving on.
I ran around the fort a lot, so that's part of why I'm sore...It was also hot, but it gave me an opportunity to thank the Lord for our soldiers in Iraq, and to bless them for their courage and strength in this heat.
This was kind of a long post (for me), but I was just sitting here doing nothing.

Okay, I'm not blogging about blogging.
Today I woke up at 7:00 to go to Fort Nisqually at 8-ish. I went and helped out at the History Camp for the middle school children. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be!
When I got there, the only activity left to sign up for was the skit on the 1849 skirmish, so I signed up for that, even though I had no idea what it was. We sang at the flagpole, did morning chores then the kids went on a tour and the volunteers went into the staff building to wait. My hands were still freezing from the ice water in the metal bucket, so I grabbed onto someone's cocoa cup : )
We must've waited for ages, and there wasn't much to do, so eventually we ended up throwing tomahawks. No I didn't throw them, I just watched ;) So the kids came around, we got rid of the hawks and had them all sit down. We talked about history for while and that was fun!
I think that was when the new flagpole came, or maybe it was when we had the kids playing a game, but we ended up doing mat weaving. We cut up these reeds and had the campers weave them. I kept all of the leftovers, so look out for a post about my creativity ; )
After that, we beaded necklaces (I got to make one!) and did archery. No I didn't shoot them, I just watched ; ) After that we ate lunch. Then the campers were throwing 'hawks and one kid fell into a bucket and hit his head. If you think about it, that's hard to do even if you try. It just one of those things, I guess. I ran all the way across the fort to get ice, but when I got back someone had already gotten some. I dunno how they got it so fast, but it ended up fine....
Okay...Then I think we did the skit. I was a Native American character, and I didn't do much except for fainting under the tree (apparently a long standing tradition) and run. I don't know who got to be Segeass, but they had a good time (he got to die).
Then we make Fry cakes, and then I went home. I would've done the dishes, but my family wanted me home : )
Here's a picture of another volunteer and I.We hung out together most of the day:
I know I'm not smiling and I look really dorky in that hat, but it was hot and it kept the sun off of my face.
See my necklace? See the dishes? See the dorky hat? Okay.
Fun day! I can't wait to go help on Thursday too!
I think that's all. I want to try out adding pictures, so I'm going to make another post.

Here I Go... What am I Doing...
Okay, I'm going to be posting a lot as of now...
For the past three hours I've been messing around (aka messing up) with html codes till my head got dizzy. Well, I got really bored/confused with that, so I just went and looked around on Google for stuff, mostly cute templates. I found one, obviously, but it was tough!
There were so many that I got even dizzier and more confused. I tried adding a widget but that meant more html code, and I'm tired of being all technical today.
I actually did do a lot of technical stuff today. I ripped my new cd, I burned a cd, I broke a cd, and I listened to a cd. Those aren't very technical, because the computer does it all for you, except for maybe breaking the cd... ;)
Okay, so maybe today isn't a very technical day for me...
