Altering a Skirt

That was in the back of my closet, woefully dreaming of the day when I'd pull in out and wear it. *sniff*

However, it neglected to realize that I didn't wear it because it was so long I couldn't walk in it. This is not a good thing with a wrap skirt as one must be careful not to step on one's skirt and have it drizzle off of one's body in front of everyone. Just a hypothetical thought, there. . . ; )

And, it was too big in the waist.

So, I got out the scissors, sewing machine, M&M's, you know, standard sewing stuff. . .
I cut it in half, hemmed it, voila!

We've altered many-a-skirt this way. Very easy, very fun, and very useful!

There was enough left over to make a skirt for little sis, too! Love it :)

I'm looking forward to a bonnet making class tomorrow, it'll be amazing!

Portrait Photo Contest Entry

I put glitter on mah shoes: DIY Glitter Shoes!

I got tired of my black sneakers. . . I think that they're good to have in your wardrobe, but there comes a time when you feel like glittering something and sibbies are NOT an option. . .

The Shoe

I also decided to use a strong marker and paint the inside bright green on an impulse :)

Pink glitter. Bam. Insta-glitz! I mixed the glitter with flexible fabric glue and painted it on. They don't shed and they glitter like the moon :) I wanted to make them red, but my sister just got red sneakers for her birthday, so I chose pink. Will definitely do this in the future with peep-toe pumps!

He is risen!

Just as He said! Joy to the world, He has risen!

Matthew 28: 5-6
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. "He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying."

I hope everyone had a beautiful Resurrection Day, filled with gratitude to our King and Savior. He has risen, conquered death and forgiven our sins. May we be forever grateful and joyful!

Ignoring People

The amazing ability that enables you to snatch the cocoa powder off of the shelf in the grocery store and skip merrily down the aisle.

Why waste a nice, long, perfectly good aisle?

Especially if you're wearing cowgirl boots and a new sweater?

Yes, you don't want to *completely* ignore everyone. Like that poor lady at the end of the aisle. She didn't look to happy when I crashed into her. She was probably mad that I stole her idea. . .

Yet all she had to do to obtain the bliss the eluded her was to step outside and observe:

Spring.

Spring.

It is the northwest. We have sighted sun, for two and a half days long.

It's Spring, people! Love it :)

Bookbinding

I have been having a blast bookbinding! I found some easy tutorials on YouTube, and just went to town :)Blue birdies, prayers and lyrics to a few of my favorite songs :)

Dreams and boats, swirls and clouds! I made this one thicker and made the word "Aspire" on a label maker if my fickle heart should so desire to have a different inspirational word featured. :)

Pink, black and white, bows, polka dots and my favorite word!

A note of thanks goes to Daddy for making the boys new bed units and to Mama for painting them. You knew I needed a lovely place to take pictures, didn't you? :P

De-cluttering the walls

017

I share a room with several sisters, and we all have our areas, which are all plastered with our pictures and poems, coloring, etc.

025

Well we also have this big stripe running around the perimeter of the room that has had, for several years, dragonflies and flowers scattered at random on the stripe.

016

At the time we put these up, our interior designing skills weren’t as developed as now. . .

019

The picture that visitors say is, “A really good picture!”

024

We took them down.

023

All clean! I love de-cluttering! You can find lots of things. . .

And she bursts out of the cyberdust. . .

. . . Coughing and choking. . . It's been so long!

How are you all?!? I feel like it's time for a bit of spring cleaning! *goes around madly shaking everyone, dusting off her blog dashboard, shuffling the music, changing the background*

Much better.

I know you're getting bored of hearing this, but this year (happy April everyone) you're going to see more pictures *yay*, more me *yay?*, and more posts! *resounding cheer*

When we last left our story, our heroine was celebrating the Christmas season with her nearest and dearest, swishing around in a silk ballgown, on break from school, playing pool, happily making cookies and sweets. . . But the new year saw her back in another grueling quarter of school, writing papers in a different language, solving trigonometric functions, and studying the atmospheric content of the Galilean moon Europa. The new year was surprised to discover the songs that she had newly written, and even more surprised at the renewed determination to blog more.

On today's episode, our heroine is in her room, dolefully looking at the wafts of fresh laundry heaped in front of her closet. And waiting for dinner. She has successfully completed her last quarter in school and even survived both the Battle of the Finals Week AND the dreaded Fashion Challenge of the Winter.

This season look forward to seeing how our heroine viciously battles out her advanced Spanish class, be amazed at her clever fashion skills, be appalled at her fearsome songwriting skills and watch on the edge of your seat as she learns to drive, one mailbox at a time!!!

Remember, it is Friday! And that is when we will be posting, er, hosting episodes in the future!
