Hello my few, valued readers,
I love ciphers and codes. I like writing them, but not figuring them out. I found a cipher from the Civil War used by the confederates, and now my brother and I are spies... No one will find us out! (unless they open my school notebook) If you want a copy, tell me and I'll email you.
School is dragging along; I'm enjoying all the homework ; ) My way of relaxing nowadays is to devour a book after school on my bed, eat something and emerge, blurry eyed to do the dishes.
Candlelight is in a few days and I am so excited! This is a really important event, my first 1st person event. Too bad I can't carry a camera, but I'll hopefully remember lots. I might bring a sketchbook.
Little sis's birthday is later this week, and a friend's birthday is on Wednesday, so I need to crank out some presents. Plus, I need to get back to my fun homework...
Always busy,
Sophia

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar...
Every time I get my guitar out to practice, my three year old brother dashes in and wants to play too.
This is problematic. He likes to strum it very hard. He likes to use it like a drum.
I like my guitar, and someday if I'm not careful, he will destroy it. Luckily for me, he has his own guitar, but...he never wants to use it.
Ah, well.

YAAAAYY....oh
Ahoy there!
Today is National Talk Like A Pirate Day. I'm not making this up, nor am I going to do it.
I might have if I had remembered before now : D
Anyway, have I ever told you the most tragic thing that's ever happened to me?
Well, last June I entered a radio contest online. The prize was four tickets to a Switchfoot concert, you got to sit on the stage AND get backstage passes. So I wasn't expecting the tickets, but I did really hope that they went to someone who deserved them.
So, soon after, the phone rang, it was the radio station, and they talked to my mother. She came in and said, "Sophia! You won the tickets!"
If, on the afternoon of May 7th you heard an soft, eerie squealing noise, that was probably me, as I shouted my head off. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. I love Switchfoot, they're one of my favorite bands.
I waited a long time for my precious tickets to arrive in the mail. A few days before the concert, I decided to look it up. It was canceled. Canceled. I didn't cry, and I'm surprised that I didn't.
So, after some wasted PCD (post-concert depression) which is awful since I didn't even see the concert, I sorta got over it.
So a few weeks ago, something came in the mail from the radio station while I was out. Four tickets...to a David Crowder Band concert. Oh. I don't have anything against them, and I don't mind going, but this will be my first concert to a band I've heard one song from. Who knows? They could be my new favorite.
Still...Why oh why didn't the radio station wait a couple months and send me to Skillet & Hawk Nelson? Or a few more months for Tobymac and Relient K? Oh, the sheer, sheer pain.
So I'm going... Luckily for me, David Crowder Band is touring with Seabird. *manages to smile*
I like them, they're awesome. Though, with my musical luck, Seabird will probably catch cold and they'll cancel.
But then, radio station might send me to Tobymac...
Later,
Sophia

PB&J&T
I must say, it's been a long time since I've had a PB&J sandwich. Yum.
What did I have to do to it? A perfectly good sandwich? I had to add tahini (ground sesame seeds) to see what it tasted like.
If you've never had tahini in your PB&J, then you're smart.
Anyway, I'm going to have a fun weekend. I have a meeting at Fort Nisqually on Saturday, my sister is performing at the Puyallup Fair on the 14th, not to mention my little brother's birthday, and, as an ending to great weekend, I have a dentist appointment on the 15th.
Ah, it's starting to feel like fall!
See ya,
Sophia

Culinary Arts class, Black an' Blue berry pie and how I ate maggots.
So you must know by now that I'm homeschooled, which means that I can learn stuff that public schoolers don't learn anymore/at all. So this year, squished into my schedule, is Culinary Arts: class me and me sis do/cool stuff to do with food/learning new stuff/goofing around in the kitchen.
So Friday's assignment was to walk down the street (about ten blocks) and pick blackberries for blackberry pie. I like blackberry pie, and I like walks. Great assignment, teacher.
So Sis and I set out, cup measures in hand, brother at side. As we walked past the first bush, we saw that the neighbors opposite were in their yard. So we headed further down the street block by block till we wearily found a tiny bush on the side of the road.
We picked and picked. Lots of the berries were squishy, spiders dropped on our head, ants followed them, and the bushes scratched us. I got blackberry juice on my favorite hoodie.
So we repeated this for a while, maybe an hour. On the walk back, we still didn't have enough; we needed another cup. We were hot, tired and cranky. We passed this old man in a truck, and I stepped quickly to the side of the road. Sis followed, but tripped and dropped a handful of berries on the ground. The old man then turned and said, "Went to all the trouble of picking 'em, just to waste 'em on the ground!" He chuckled like it was a joke. Funny.
We met another lady on the way back who called, "School not in yet?" I think she thought it was funny.
Luckily we found more berries right near home, so we finished picking there. Another lady jogged passed and said, "Are you guys making pie? Ooh yum, my favorite!" By that time, I was ready for pie myself.
We went home and made dinner, pizza. This took a couple of hours; we made four and still had some dough left (glad we made a triple batch of dough).
So after dinner I began to process the berries; we decided to make cobbler instead of pie. I washed a lot of berries and ate a few. I looked deep into the bowl and came face to face with maggots. A lot of them. I won't go into details. "Went to all the trouble of picking 'em..."
We decided to make blueberry crisp. We had lots of blueberries, and I don't like blackberries anymore.

It was really good.

Previously in this class, we've made ratatouille:

Tomato Basil French bread:
And just for fun, I made some falafel!

Anyway, that's all in my recent cooking escapades. In fact, it's not over yet. I need to make another menu!
See ya later,
Sophia

Hmm....What is she talking about?
I've realized, unfortunately, that my blog is very random and boring. What exactly am I trying to say?
I haven't really decided yet, but maybe I'll do a theme a day. Cooking on Monday, photography on Tuesday, etc, etc.
See ya later...

I need to clean my room
An observation by me.
Such is this:
I am bored. So I probably should be doing something, eh?
